Lemons are great for alkalising!
When my husband was battling cancer, lemons were one fruit that really helped.
We used lemon zest in our salads, lemon juice in his smoothies and teas.
Lemons are known to have an alkalising effect in the body.
While they are acidic, to begin with, they also are alkaline-forming on body fluids helping to restore balance to the body’s pH.
Lemons are known to have naturally present substances that have cancer- fighting properties.
The two anti-carcinogenic properties found in lemon, are modified citrus pectin (MCP) and limonoid.
Research and studies have shown that Limonoid is a chemical present in lemon that is capable of slowing cancer cell growth.
Lemons are also loaded with Vitamin C and other antioxidants which are beneficial to a healthy liver and digestive system.
You can store your freshly squeezed lemons in the freezer and use them later to zest the skins so they don’t go to waste.
Always wash thoroughly before squeezing them, and then after you have squeezed them for their juice, store them in the freezer for zesting on meals as and when required.
Use a good stainless steel lemon zester, and you will find them easier to handle.
Grate the lemon on salads, breakfast, salmon and fish dishes, vegetables and on any fresh dish to add not only flavour but goodness too.
