Spinach and Kale are 2 vegetables that are nutrient rich with loads of antioxidants, vitamins, calcium, iron and more.
Maddie ( my eleven year old granddaughter) is on school holidays at the moment and has sent me a recipe that she has found for a healthy lifestyle.
She has done her research on a Spinach and Kale Smoothie and wanted to share it with others who like a healthy lifestyle.
Spinach and Kale smoothie
1. Spinach (one or two handfuls of pre-washed )
2. Kale ( one or two handfuls of pre-washed )
3. Water ( one glass)
Use a Nutribullet or Blender
This is a very healthy quick “on the go” smoothie and all up has approximately 500 calories

For a variation of this smoothie, just add a frozen banana, or almond milk, or even Greek yoghurt.
Like all greens it is important to wash before use.
Spinach is rich in high amounts of carotenoids, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Folic Acid, Iron and Calcium, however if consumed in excess there are some risks associated for some people.
Oxalates bind to calcium as they leave our bodies and can increase the risk of kidney stones for some of us.
Kale is a great source of fibre, antioxidants, vitamins and calcium and iron and other nutrients, and is known to help reduce inflammation, strengthen the immune system, and fight oxidative stress, which can help prevent cancer and other illnesses like the common cold and the flu.
